SAP Bringing Marketing Heroes to life
Client • SAPtype • Animation, Event VideoSAP wanted a high‑energy, memorable video to open their in‑person annual Sales and Marketing meeting in a fun, creative way. Due to timing, we needed a solution that felt premium and cinematic, that could be produced quickly, and still delivered a strong emotional impact.
Rather than compromise on creativity, FMM leaned into it. We developed an original concept inspired by superhero TV shows and classic video games, creating a fictional universe where each marketing leader became a hero in their own right. To elevate the storytelling, we partnered with Hollywood screenwriter and seasoned voiceover artist Chuck Fresh (Charles Grodens), whose experience in animated productions brought personality, humor, and professional polish to the narrative.
From this idea, “SMASH” was born—short for SAPS Marketing Solution Heroes, a playful nod to iconic superhero teams like The Fantastic Four. Each member of the leadership team was reimagined as a distinct character with their own powers, personality, and origin story, directly tied to their real‑world achievements and leadership style.
We chose a stylized comic‑book approach, and a professional illustrator designed original characters for each leader, which we assembled into a digital flip book of character cards and story panels. Instead of fully animating the project in 3D, we intentionally used 2D motion, transitions, and parallax effects to simulate a living comic book. Bold typography, dramatic framing, and cinematic sound design reinforced the superhero theme while allowing for faster production and a distinctive visual identity.
SAP received a unique, story‑driven introduction to their leadership team that worked within time constraints and felt custom, premium, and highly shareable internally. Most importantly, it reframed their marketing leaders not just as executives, but as the heroes behind the company’s success.
With a strong narrative foundation, a stylized execution that stood out from traditional corporate videos, and collaboration with top‑tier writing and voice talent, FMM delivered a memorable opening experience that set the tone for the entire event.
